Season Overview | Meets

There are primarily 2 types of meets - Dual Meets (head-to-head competitions between two teams) and Invitational meets between multiple teams.  All meets are organized the year before the swim season and teams take turns hosting or visiting  another club.  These meets make the season fun, with many based on themes. Battle of the Ages hosted by Pleasant Hill is a perfect example.

Many teams in Contra Costa County host Invitational Swim Meets. Multiple teams are invited, and sometimes themes are introduced or qualifying times are required. Generally the swimmers choose their strokes in these meets; as the season progresses, the choice of stroke can be critical for Dolphin Stars or County time achievements.

At the Lafayette City Meet, the coach chooses the strokes. At the Pentathlon, a swimmer is required to swim all events. At the County Meet, a swimmer must achieve a Gold, or County, time.

Martinez Community Swim Team Otter Invitational 8 & UNDER – Sunday, May 31 - Rankin Pool – 9:00 am

This is an invitational meet for the two youngest age groups: 6 & Under and 7/8. It is the first meet after time trials and is a small and low key environment in which the younger swimmers can really enjoy themselves and prepare themselves for the excitement of the bigger meets.

BATTLE OF THE AGES – Saturday & Sunday, June 27 & 28 – 9:00 am

Pleasant Hill Dolfins Pool, 77 Santa Barbara Rd, Pleasant Hill. A not-to-be-missed meet. This is Pleasant Hill Dolfin’s fundraiser invitational and over 12 teams participate in this meet. The unique aspect to this meet is swimmers competing against swimmers of their exact age. For example, instead of swimming in a 7/8 event, the 7 year old swims only against 7 year olds, and the 8 year old swims only against 8 year olds. This is a real bonus for swimmers in a “down year”.

LAFAYETTE CITY MEET – Saturday & Sunday, July 11 and 12 – 9:00 am

Acalanes High School Pool (LMYA Dolphins)
The Highlight of the season! City Meet is a 2 day conference meet in our pool between the five city teams: Springbrook Hogs, Rancho Colorado Wahoos, Las Trampas Seahorses, Sun Valley Rays and LMYA Dolphins. During the week prior to the meet, LMYA has celebratory preparations with the Annual Family Luau as the highlight of the week. At the meet, LMYA wears their colors – blue and gold – proudly. The parents and coaches relays are not to be missed. Unique to this meet are the Preliminary Individual and Relay Events in the morning, and after a lunch break, the Final Events in the afternoon. This makes for a very exciting meet with lots of team camaraderie.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY SWIM LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Saturday & Sunday, August 1 & 2 – 9:00 am
Pleasant Hill Dolfins Pool, 77 Santa Barbara Rd, Pleasant Hill
The grand finale meet of the season! The five teams in our league, specifically the Pleasant Hill Dolfins, Dana Hills Otters, LMYA Dolphins, East County Stingrays and the Walnut Creek Swim Club convene together over a 2 day period for one final challenge.  Excitingly, each swimmer can swim in all events. Medals are awarded for those swimmers who place in the top 10 in each event. Our pre-week celebrations for this exciting meet include a Pirate party and our cheer at the meet will have a definite pirate theme!

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP SWIM MEET

Saturday & Sunday, August 15 & 16 – 9:00 am
Acalanes High School Pool (LMYA Dolphins)
LMYA’s fundraiser event – and one of the most prestigious invitational meets in the County!  The best swimmers in each event throughout the county have achieved qualifying times and earned the right to vie for the highest honors in the County – a County Medal. Any swimmers who reach a Gold Star time, or County Time, will qualify to enter this meet. All hands on deck – we have a big meet to run!
