Parent Volunteer Requirements
The LMYA Dolphins is a volunteer run organization.  Our great swim tradition is based on our many dedicated parent volunteers. As a volunteer you make it possible to run meets, feed the swimmers and coaches, and allow swimmers to experience the thrill of competitive swimming.

Workers are generally required to be at the meet at least 30 minutes in advance of the meet start and need to check in with the Meet Director. (Some jobs require earlier start times - check the meet worker schedules for specifics).

Volunteer Requirements - Families
Each family is required to contribute as follows:

  • 8 regular swim meet jobs
  • 1 League or City Meet job
  • 1 County Meet job

Parents who have only swimmers aged 15 years and older do not have to volunteer at the Swim Meets.

Volunteer Requirements - Families Acting as Chairs
Any family member acting as a Chairperson is required to contribute as follows:

  • 1 Chairperson job (Head Timer)
  • 1 League or City Job
  • 1 County Meet job

Volunteer Substitutes
If you cannot honor your work obligation, you MUST provide a substitute. We maintain a team list of approved substitutes for hire.  If you know you are going to miss a meet please hire your subs early - don't leave it to the last minute. Meet jobs that qualify for substitution include: Hospitality, Runner, Ribbon Writer/Labeler at the desk, Timer, Recorder, and Snack Bar.  Jobs that do not qualify for a substitute without prior approval of the parent work coordinator are - Stroke & Turn, Asst. Meet Director, and Shepherds.

We have a limited number of  substitutes. The rates for a substitute are:

  • $25 for a Dual or Invitational Meet during the regular season
  • $40 for the City or League Meet
  • $50 for the County Meet

It is your responsibility to find a substitute not the parent work coordinator.  Once you have secured a substitute please Contact Parent Coordinator with confirmation. Always include substitutes name, email address and phone number. Current Substitute list is available for download.

FINES - Failure to fulfill a volunteer commitment or provide an authorized substitute will result in a monetary fine ($50/regular meet shift, $100 for a County Meet shift) and may result in your child's suspension from participation in practice and future swim meets.
